IMG_0001Today, we chatted to Jeremiah Leshan Kasaine, full-time guide at Great Plains’ ol Donyo Lodge. And congrats on just receiving his Kenya Silver Level Guides License!

Jeremiah, where are you from?
AMBOSELI REGION.

And now long have you been guiding?
FOUR YEARS

Which animal which reminds you most of yourself and why? A LION- I FEEL MOST CONNECTED TO THIS ANIMAL FOR ITS STRENGTH AND TRACKING THESE LIONS AROUND THE OL DONYO AREA IS MY PASSION, AS TO SEE THEM IS RARE AND SPECIAL AND VERY EXCITING.

And your most embarrassing guiding moment? ONE TIME THAT I HAD GUESTS THEY DID NOT WANT TO LISTEN TO ME AT ALL.  I JUST KEPT TALKING AS I DIDN’T KNOW QUITE WHAT TO DO.  I TRIED EVERYTHING TO MAKE THEM INTERESTED AND NOTHING WORKED!!  I HAVE NEVER FELT SO EMBARASSED

What about your most exciting guiding moment? MOST EXCITING MOMENT WAS SEEING A LEOPARD ON A NIGHT DRIVE AROUND OL DONYO LODGE AREA… INCREDIBLE!

Do you have a goal for your guiding career? GUIDING IN BOTWANA.

What is the place you dream of visiting in the world? YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK IN AMERICA

What do you think the biggest challenge facing community conservation? HUMAN WILDLIFE CONFLICT

And what about the biggest opportunity facing community conservation? FORMATION OF CONSERVANCIES WHICH COULD EARN MONEY FOR THE COMMUNITY.

Thank you, Jeremiah! You are such an asset to Great Plains and ol Donyo Lodge.

Now, folks, come visit Jeremiah on his home turf in the Chyulu Hills at ol Donyo Lodge!
