The Last Refuge for Lions
By Claudia Smargiasso
Ask any safari traveller which animal they’re most hoping to glimpse while on safari, and you’re likely to hear lion more often than not. These lithe and majestic cats make for really jaw-dropping sightings in the wild, and while they’re known as mighty hunters, their existence and population numbers are in a delicate state.

The Great Migration is a Go!
The Serengeti is known for the epic thunderstorms that roll over the plains in billowing grey clouds, spilling rain onto the grassland below and cooling the endless landscape. The growl of thunder is synonymous with these flash storms and is a familiar sound for any visitor to the area. Guests at Singita Grumeti know the sound well, but lately they would be forgiven for thinking another storm was rolling in, when in fact it’s the rumble of millions of wildebeest hooves. The herds have arrived!
Wildlife Updates from Singita Kruger National Park
Guests at Singita Kruger National Park have 33,000 acres over which to roam on twice-daily game drives with their dedicated field guide and tracker. The area is well known for a particularly high concentration of the “Big 5” – including a number of large prides of lion – all of whom benefit from Singita’s steadfast commitment to conservation as well as its minimal environmental footprint.
East African Landscapes
By Stuart Butler
Golden, sun-blessed grasslands spotted with flat-topped acacia trees might be the common image of East Africa, but this huge region contains an endlessly diverse array of landscapes that range from beaches of snowflake white sands to high altitude glaciers, lakes the breadth of oceans and humid rainforests haunted by the echoing yelps of chimpanzees.
The following images reveal something of East Africa’s extraordinary range of landscapes and wildlife habitats.
Stories from the Land of the Long Grass
The Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve is set on 130,000 acres of pristine wilderness in southeastern Zimbabwe, bordering Gonarezhou National Park. It is a diverse and beautiful piece of Africa that is home to a healthy population of endangered black and white rhinos, as well as elephant and buffalo herds. There are also plenty of lions, cheetah, leopard, hyena and wild dogs to keep the herbivore population in check, and more than 400 different bird species.
Giants Club Summit: Protecting Africa’s Elephants
On 29 and 30 April 2016, some of the world’s biggest voices will come together for the first time to speak up for one of its biggest inhabitants. The inaugural Giants Club Summit is set to take place in Kenya and will bring together African heads of state, global celebrities, corporate leaders, philanthropists and conservationists to address elephant poaching on the continent and discuss long-term solutions to this problem.

Today we have even more for you, in the form of this fabulous series of photos taken by Barry Peiser, Field Guide at Singita Kruger National Park. Here’s Barry with the full story:
Feline Fun: Leopard, Cheetah & Lion Cubs on Camera
If there are two things that rule the internet, they are cats and cute baby animals. Baby cats are therefore bound to be a crowd-pleaser, as these short videos of some of the furry-faced cubs at Singita will show!
