We all wish we could have stayed a little longer. It was that good a holiday.
The “organic” days we spent in Madikwe were matched by an equally elegant counterpoint in Cape Town. The kick off in Zimbabwe with an excursion to the Victoria Falls was the best prologue for our safari in South Africa.
Our days and nights in the Madikwe safari lodge were truly magical. Key to it all were the fantastic game drives we did twice a day under the very able care and watch of our very knowledgeable guide. We were simply transported to a different world altogether. Time flew by so fast as we chased trails in search of the Big 5…. and more. Extended pitstops between drives at the lodge were made very memorable by the attentive and engaged staff who made sure all our needs were attended to, especially for food and drink. The service was impeccable. The rooms were par for the safari course, with the fireplace constantly welcoming us every night as we retired from dinner. The vistas we enjoyed as we savored local and international cuisine were really something out of a Hollywood movie.
And as we concluded with a few days in Cape Town, we gradually eased into a transition of a nature and urban experience that made it very hard for us to leave. At the end of it all, the conclusion of our kids is that it would be difficult to top this holiday experience in the coming years……Maybe we should plan a return trip!
