- Charging lions, laughing hippos, elephant herds splashing happily at the water holes..
- lazy crocs grinning toothily (hungrily?) as we canoe past them,  tracking the black rhino on foot (“don’t worry, just climb a tree if it charges!”),
- sundowners while watching stunning sunsets and picnic lunches in the wild (once even in the middle of the Zambezi!)
…the memories are endless and unforgettable

This was my first trip to Zimbabwe, and a really amazing experience. I loved all the camps that we stayed at - Makalolo, where Foster our guide and the rest of the Mak team made our stay a really fun and adventurous experience, Rukomechi and Chikwenya at the spectacular Mana Pools National Park, the Mana Canoe Trail down the Zambezi with Humphrey who knows the river like the back of his hand, and the floating chalets on Lake Kariba in Matusadona National Park where Obert and Doug kept us spell bound with their stories of rhino and lion charges.

Getting to the camps in the little 5-seater Cessna 206s is almost as adventurous as the game drives themselves. A highlight of the trip was flying very low over Victoria Falls on the way back to the airport.

Is it the place, the people or the animals that make the trip so memorable – hard to say, but I’m already planning the next one to find out!
